In My Opinion
I believe that Planned Parenthood and abortion itself is a very controversial and important part of our society that everyone needs to care about - or, better yet, not care about. It should be the choice of the woman as to whether or not they should get an abortion. As she is the only one who is going to give birth to that child, she should ultimately be the final decision maker.
When it comes to abortion itself, there are many problems people may have, but they can all be debunked somehow. For example, some people argue that abortion goes against their religion. I believe that banning abortion for all people goes against the United States Constitution and Thomas Jefferson's ideas of "separation of church and state." It is totally okay if a woman is pregnant and does not want to get an abortion because her religion is against it. However, it is not okay to force these beliefs onto others who are not necessarily part of that religion. An important part of our government is that everyone is allowed to practice whichever religion they please. But if the government decides that the right to abortion is unconstitutional because it is against a religion practiced by only a percentage of Americans, it obviously isn't fair to all of the other Americans.
Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to have an abortion is up to the mother. Forcing someone's anti-abortion beliefs onto other people isn't okay. It's the choice of the mother as to whether or not they want to have an abortion or not. Planned Parenthood is stuck in the middle of this fight.
Planned Parenthood is not just an abortion clinic - it is so much more. Unfortunately, there are politicians and other Americans who want to defund Planned Parenthood because they can perform abortions on people. Planned Parenthood helps women by supplying birth control, educates people on sexuality, tests for cancer, and tests for and treats STDs. Defunding Planned Parenthood will defund all of these other important areas in which they can help women of all ages. Planned Parenthood needs to continue to be funded by the government as long as the government cares about the health and well-being of the women of America - and around the world.
